Norwalk Community College is offering a one session extended studies (non-credit) course on Workplace and Career Strategies that aligns perfectly with my transition program's employability skills curriculum!
This would be an AMAZING opportunity for my students with disabilities to be able to take an actual college class, (they have never taken one before) to supplement their learning.
My students will get to learn best practices and techniques on how to manage work relationships, challenging environments, and other workplace dynamics. Topics will include: emotional intelligence, soft skills, effective communication, image and perception management, workplace culture, negotiation and advocacy, and conflict management.
Not only will my students gain essential job-related skills by attending this college class, but it will also enhance their educational experience and build their confidence both personally and professionally!
