These materials will allow the children in my class to use their imaginations, fine motor skills and promote hands-on learning. In our classroom, we currently do not have a lot of toys that children can build with. We have some blocks, but these toys will really give them an opportunity to learn as they play. Our class would love to use Magnet tile building blocks to create their own structures and explore principals of magnets. The clip blocks and brain flakes will allow children to build fine motor skills so they can develop the muscles in their hands that need to be able to hold pencils for writing. Our class would also love to build big buildings with the Melissa and Doug jumbo bricks. With these we can really make our block area super fun and build awesome structures. We could recreate the Three Little Pig story and use our different blocks and see what kind of block is the most sturdy, or we can use the blocks to create our own little town and talk about community helpers and who lives in a neighborhood. All of these materials will promote STEAM learning and creativity.
The children really want to be able to build cool structures and explore the process of making them and figuring out how to make their buildings stay up, and how much fun it can be to knock them down!
