My Project
Two of the units of work that the students will do this year are Chemical bonds and Chemical reactions. I have a number of students who are ELL learning English, as well as others for whom increased amounts of experiential / hands-on learning is essential because of their specific learning challenges.
In these units students can use molecular modeling kits to build molecules and be able to visualize how these molecules change to form new ones as they participate in reactions. They can also conduct simple, safe activities to explore the nature of the physical and chemical changes that take place as substances react using basic lab equipment. Use of the Identification of Chemical Reactions Kits will allow them to see and categorize different types of reactions, and build excitement towards possible ideas for their science projects later in the school year.
