With a fixed mindset, it is believed that intelligence cannot be changed and people are either born smart or act smart but with a growth mindset, it is believed that intelligence can change with hard work, perseverance and challenges.
Reading aloud helps students learn how to use language and make sense of the world. These read alouds will help teach a growth mindset. The Most Magnificent Thing by Ashley Spires is about a girl that has an idea and knows it will be the most magnificent thing. She tries and fails numerous times. She feels frustrated but she never gives up. This book will help students understand how to take a break and try again. The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes by Mark Pett helps teach students that we all make mistakes and the best thing we can do is to learn from them.
