Students will be using the new Dayton Variable Speed Scroll Saw to create projects that they design. This equipment will replace old, non serviceable, and large tools with new space saving tools.
A new scroll saw will help students understand math principles by allowing them to work with their hands. The scroll saws are used to make signs designed by students. They are scaled up, transferred and cut out using a scroll saw. The sign making project is a favorite of students because they can make a sign that says anything they want. Their enthusiasm to create something original overshadows the math problems needed to accomplish that. Since this is the first piece of power equipment students will use in woodworking, they are often very excited about it.
