My art students are always looking for great ideas to inspire them for their own artwork. Sometimes it only takes a quick glance at an image to inspire them to create something truly amazing. My classroom currently has only one iPad. Students are always asking to borrow the one classroom iPad and if someone is using it, then other students have to wait. Most recently, my students were drawing self-portraits and had to choose a famous piece of architecture to place in their background. So many students wanted to look up images on an iPad, but there was only one iPad. It would be so wonderful to allow more students the option of using an iPad.
By donating to this project, my students will be able to utilize technology in order to generate artistic ideas, learn how to draw a variety of images, and receive inspiration from the world around them for the own artwork. Further, when students are struggling to come up with an idea for their artwork, it is so helpful to have an iPad available to show them an image to get them started. I believe that having iPads available to students will help them grow in tremendous ways by building their confidence for creative expression and supporting their continuing growth as artists.
My students are also in need of a variety of markers for their art projects. With over 600 students using materials, the markers dry out so quickly. I would love to replenish our marker supply so that students can continue to create beautiful and vibrant artwork like the one shown in the picture. Specifically, I am planning for students to utilize the colorful Bic Permanent markers to decorate their sketchbook covers and the Mr. Sketch markers will be used to create abstract salmon art.
