We have begun learning to play (piano) keyboard in my first, second, third, fourth and fifth grade classes. Currently we don’t have enough keyboards for all of our students because class sizes are steadily increasing. Our Key to Success project is geared to teaching students many concepts of music by playing the keyboard. Many concepts are being taught i.e. posture, hand position, note identification, reading music etc. This project has put a flame under the students to open up their minds to music. It is also helping them in other subjects as well. We relate music to language arts, science and math.
