Students love playing instruments. Fourth and fifth grade ukuleles will be a huge asset to my Title 1 school鈥檚 music program by building on our main recorder instruments from 3rd grade. If you are able to support our Ukelele program, it will enable us to play an authentic instrument and read real music using our Quaver Ukelele program based on National music standards.
This program is interactive and has songs that build upon their previous basic reading skills. They will learn about the parts of the Ukelele, it鈥檚 history, and what this instrument means to a culture that has embraced it as a means of communication and community. When students learn how to read music and play an instrument, they develop intrinsic skills like sequencing, pacing, predicting, planning ahead, and thinking 鈥渙utside of the box.鈥 Also, when they play musical instruments longer, they become life-long learners of music and well-rounded adults.
