Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) has been a very hot topic in schools all over the United States the past few years, and I believe STEM will continue to be a very important part of education for a long time.
I am very enthusiastic about providing opportunities for my students to work on real-world, authentic STEM projects in my classroom; however, the lack of materials and supplies has placed a damper on what I'm able to do for my students because I purchase most of my STEM supplies out of my own personal funds. LEGO has created some incredibly engaging products like the LEGO Education WeDo 2.0s that will help my students open their minds to the endless possibilities of designing, engineering, and coding small robots. I want them to be able to take a very common product that they've used before (LEGOs) and experience them in an entirely new way.
The WeDo 2.0s will be an integral part of our classroom STEM stations. My students will be able to construct and code the robots individually or with a partner. I've requested two kits for my classroom so the WeDo 2.0 station can sustain two groups of two. I would not put more than two students with a kit, because a third or fourth member is less likely to be engaged in the project.
Thank you in advance for considering my project for funding. I am very thankful and grateful for any donations that would help my students broaden their critical thinking, problem solving and cooperative learning skills.
