The materials that I am requesting are a part of the "#ISeeMe", campaign. In order to promote and celebrate diversity, I would like my students to have more access to books that include characters of color and authors of color. These books will encourage students to think critically about who they are and who they want to be.
As a teacher of diverse students, I want to create a library that best reflects the identity of each individual. I would like my students to see themselves represented in the books that they read. Additionally, I feel that this selection of books will promote meaningful conversations about diversity in literature, and, consequently, diversity in the world.
