Our string bass section uses school-owned bass instruments, many of which have been in use for 30 or more years. Some of our basses are no longer repairable or playable because of the age of the instruments. We currently have more bass players than playable instruments and thus, some players have to share instruments. This makes practicing at home difficult. It is also difficult to play some of our instruments because of the condition that they are in, which makes learning to play even more difficult and frustrating. A new bass will help students to be more successful in class and will give them an opportunity to practice at school and home.
