I teach reading skills at an impoverished school where many children can't connect with each other to share their love of reading. It is hard to be the kid who likes to read when so many think that isn't cool. Many children who love to read don't have resources or space to gather together to talk about great books. I would love to have many copies of relevant books so that we could read and discuss things together as a group. It is my belief that once a culture of literacy takes hold, it will positively impact the culture of the school. I hope to be able to continue growing our small group as we cultivate literacy and a love of community.
