Why must the entrepreneurial youth of today wait until they are older to be creative, build knowledge and run a business? They shouldn't! Malcom X said it best when he said, "the future belongs to those who prepare for it today." That is why this project is so important. These students have great ideas. They want to lead. It is important they are part of the decision making and action.
With the addition of this equipment, hundreds of students each year, will be able to move beyond the paper assignment to actually design and create products that will be sold in our cafe, donated to charity, and created for school events. The project and advertisement possibilities are endless; apparel, water bottles, hats, aprons, posters, etc. Currently the students complete paper lessons on logo design, advertisements and charity support. With this current method, students are complacent in simply completing the assignment with no urgency to be creative, improve the design or push beyond what has been done before, because it stops there.
Imagine the mental and physical fulfillment of students who actually see their design on a final project that will be seen or worn by others.
Students will design logos and graphics, as well as create advertisement. Once these are edited and improved, students will use the computer and Cricut machine to cut the design out of vinyl. The heat press machine will be used to permanently transfer the design onto a variety of items such as shirts, hats, water bottles, mugs and posters. Students won't even know they are doing math to calculate the size/placement of the design, determine the per unit cost, formulate the budget or deal with the money aspect of the sales. The possibilities are endless. Please be part of developing our future today.
