Our school is older than many of my students' parents and grandparents- built in 1961. I hate to imagine the age of the carpet! Our students deserve a bright, exciting place to learn where they can spread out on the floor, sit in a traditional desk, join a table to collaborate with peers, relax on a sofa, or stand and work. During my first two years here, I have added paint, posters, a standing area with tall tables, and some alternative seating options from thrift stores and yard sales; However, it is still not enough to transform this space into an unique, exciting, flexible place of learning. Students are excited and motivated when they have different options for seating and learning spaces. I appreciate all of the help in making this room feel more inviting and modern!
