Books from our counseling library will be used by myself and by our teachers to plan classroom lessons related to social emotional learning. I will pull from the library to work with students individually to build particular skills, and I will use them in support groups to help students cope with difficult experiences such as grief and loss, family separation, and managing anger or anxiety.
Students need stories to help them process their experiences. These books will help students to better understand their own feelings, to know that they are not alone, and to gain some strategies and develop confidence in overcoming challenges.
