Having carpet in the classroom helps to create a warm, inviting and engaging environment. I want to provide a comfortable learning space in the classroom where students can gather together to talk, share ideas, and participate in a variety of active activities. Such activities will promote social emotional learning, enhance literacy and math skills, as well as help students develop gross motor skills. Placing the carpet in our large group area of the classroom, provides a great "meeting ground" where students can become acquainted with their teachers as well as their peers. Since community gatherings set the tone for our day, having a carpeted area in the room will help everyone to maintain that positive classroom community that we strive to have in class.
