The program I am developing is heavily focused on composition and improvisation. In order to be able to support a program in which students spend the maximum amount of time possible playing, students are currently hindered by having to take turns playing instruments and rotate between playing and doing other activities. While students are still being engaged musically the entire class period, I feel that there is a lot of experience lost on students who have their time on the instrument itself cut in half or in thirds due to class size. With more instruments, I can better foster student discovery and exploration through music.
