Do you remember having to sit in a desk all day and becoming disengaged because you are uncomfortable. Kids often need more simulation, movement and interaction when it comes to learning. This year I will be teaching a gifted cluster classroom. Gifted students are often twice exceptional students and need more flexibility throughout their learning. We will be completing a lot of self-learning and researching. By having these safe seating options these students will be more engaged in their learning.
Imagine being in a classroom where you are able to pick between many comfy seating options!!
As a teacher in a transient location I want my students to feel welcomed and comfortable when it comes to their learning. I currently have four tables with four chairs around each. The other options my students have currently is a rug, lap trays, and pillows. Seating options such as stools, floor desk and doughnut chairs will allow my students to move around the room freely to accommodate their creative personalities. Think about being able to move around where you are most comfy to learn. How awesome would that be? If we had flexible seating in my classroom it will allow my students to have a safe, comfortable, and calm learning environment.
