Consistent access to materials like iPads helps my students experience differentiation that they need in the classroom. We have a 30% English as a second language population, who use technology to translate and communicate through their journey to English proficiency. We do have some technology in the school, but because we have to share among 3 classes, access is spotty and students are stalled in their academic progress until they are able to access either another same- language speaker to translate. Not only will this benefit our students that speak a second language, but this will help our native speakers, as well. They will be able to regularly complete research projects, finish assignments that they begin in a timely manner, and even be able to complete academic interventions that I can assign them to help cater to their needs as individuals.
