My students would benefit from a washer because we teach our students basic life skills such as doing their laundry, personal hygiene, cooking, and cleaning. The washer would help with the care of the students as they could not only learn how to use the washer, but also wash their personal items. Some students come from a home that does not include a washer and dryer. They feel bullied when students comment on the smell or look of their clothes and then they have a lack of motivation to learn. It would be great to have the students use the washer in the morning or throughout the day. We currently have a closet in the classroom that could hold the clothes that the students clean and fold. The washer would be a tremendous help to learning an essential life skill and promoting a positive school environment to my students.
