Technology. As a society, we rely on the use of technology tremendously and it impacts our very essence. Technology has evolved to such a point where we can not go somewhere without using some form of it. Technology has altered the way we do business, travel, and even learn. Students today are evaluated by computer testing on a system called I-ready. This technology helps pinpoint areas of struggle and success for an individual student. The app also helps generate data on the entire classroom as a whole. Good news- students can practice on the I-ready app all throughout the school year and receive catered lessons to help ensure their personal success based off of what that individual needs! The app and teacher decide what the student needs the most assistance with and then can push and design lessons to help the student. However, this is only helpful if there is data to gather. Data cannot be gathered though if students do not go online and do their weekly minutes. Many of the students, do not have technology at home to practice on, so they rely solely on the computer in the classroom. One computer; 35 students.
These tablets can help give these students an authentic, engaging and meaningful learning experience. A student's best chance at passing this state mandated test is by allowing them the tools they need to practice. The donations to this project will help improve my students' understanding of material and build their comprehension skills in order to meet state standards and grade level content. With the use of these tablets, students will be able to have an additional learning station every single day for math. This will allow every single student a chance to practice daily for that dreadful test.
