The beginning of a new school year and the first day of school is a blank canvas in more ways than one. A fresh group of students bright-eyed (and sometimes teary eyed) excited, eager, and nervous to enter a new grade and a new classroom. Going into my second year as a 2nd grade teacher I share those same feelings of excitement, eagerness, and nerves. I have been fortunate enough to be able to move to a different, larger classroom that I hope to fill with love, encouragement and positivity and provide the best and most comfortable learning environment for my fresh-faced second graders.
Second grade is an extremely exciting time for students and teachers alike, in order for students to learn and be successful they must first feel comfortable in their environment.
I aim to give students a place where they can not only feel comfortable but also can have the opportunity to choose where and how they can do their best learning. These flexible seating options will directly impact my students learning by providing them with a comfortable place to complete their work, read a book, and wiggle around a little while still listening and learning. Providing choice to students has been proven to give them a sense of empowerment and motivation that positively impacts their work and work ethic!
