I will be teaching Kindergarten in-person this school year! Kindergarten is my passion, and developing students' reading skills is one of the most rewarding parts of the job. However, as we are making necessary classroom changes in response to COVID-19, my students and I need quite a few supplies to begin the school year.
While sanitation and cleaning supplies are obviously needed, so are new learning materials. In previous years, I have relied heavily on public libraries to bring engaging, culturally relevant stories into my classroom. I would like to start the year with classroom copies of a few of these titles. It is important to me that my students, who are primarily African-American, feel represented and validated in the pages we read together.
