The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these games will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My intervention students are significantly below grade level. These students do not respond to typical classroom environments. I'm hoping to liven up the classroom and make learning a fun experience again. Making connections through these fun learning activities will allow students to link those ideas when taking assessments in the regular education classroom. Included in the project are match and sort games, folder games, hazard mountain, bingo, and other fun games.
I have always believed that learning must be an experience, not just a lecture. My goal is with these games, my students will be able to choose from a variety of activities that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level. The best experiences encourage students to continue to grow. The students that leave my classroom wanting to come back again will make this "Games for Brains" project a success.
