As I've been working in my new classroom, it's been brought to my attention that our students do not have access to computers that are reliable. I was fortunate to spend 2 yrs at a school, in which I had my own computer cart. My students accessed them on almost a daily basis.
In language arts my kids used computers to "research" and write animal reports. In math they could brush up on their math and problem solving skills. All my students, no matter their achievement level, were completely engaged. The students couldn't wait to show me/tell me about what they were learning. I found my self just as excited as the kids.
I want my students at this new school I'm at, to have the same access to be engaged and excited about what they're learning. My new school and previous school are in the same school district, yet not funded equally. It's unfair, I'd this is one way to even "the playing field."
