This classroom set of 3-D pens allows what my students create to jump off the page- literally. The pen turns the filament into something pliable that cools immediately as it hits the air. The "ink" from these pens stand up off the page, creating all sorts of unique possibilities.
This set would allow my students to create things they probably didn't think were possible, and they LOVE it when that happens. I have seen other classrooms build the Eiffel Tower, cathedrals, bookmarks, bowls, etc. It is like having a 3-D printer in their hands and they have to decide how to make it all work and come together.
Gifted students need challenges, and this is a great way to do just that. They will be able to create things that are relatively simple all the way to things that are extremely intricate. I can only imagine the types of things they will make to show their parents. I am really, REALLY excited about the possibilities of this project!
