Students with special needs require extra assistance with sensory processing. I have incorporated lighting, squishy pillows, and calm music to help support these students. I would like to build an area in the classroom for a cool down area if a student becomes over stimulated.
I try to pin point items students like and pair them with functional educational items. I have included a lot of sensory toys and sensory games. The students in the classroom thrive on music, fun toys, and squishy toys. They like to have fun while learning which encourages growth throughout the year. We encourage students to be unique as well as focus on interests of them to help learning.
