Unfortunately, our students are feeling the lack of a budget this year at our school. Teachers do not have a plethora of supplies or even paper to make copies for tests or activity sheets. In order to make sure the students have the supplies they need to attend school, we need to come together as an educational community and supply these common needs.
My main goal is to create a safe space because most of these students do not have one at home. Things like tissues will make them believe that coming to school is a privilege and an honor. Materials like the folders and copy paper will allow all students who cannot purchase their own to organize their work. Another goal I want to accomplish while teaching these special students is to ensure that they remain healthy and full. The snacks will help students stay focused about their work and not their grumbling stomachs. The tissues and cleaning products will allow me to keep my classroom germ-free and well-maintained so students will not be able to achieve their attendance goals and not get sickly. This will ultimately create an environment of love, caring, and place of learning.
