I work in a Title I school, there are 22 students in my class and more than half of the students in my class get free/reduced lunch. Having a library filled with books would greatly help them grow as readers in the classroom and at home. I would love for my students to be able to take home a different book to read every night. In the classroom, each student has a reading partner on the same reading level, having more books would give them the opportunity to have rich conversations about books. Most of my students are English Language Learners therefore they need to be exposed to a variety of text to develop a rich understand of the English language. Having a variety of books would also scaffold and expand their social and academic language.
