These class sets of texts will be used as alternatives to traditional history textbooks. Students will view history through different lenses to gain a greater understanding of America and its role in the world. Teachers will be able to assign them as whole class reads or allow students choice in reading. Students will develop a deeper understanding of themselves and each other, and think more critically about who we are as a nation. This will help foster a more positive class and school community, as well as build citizenship skills.
These texts ask students to consider alternative viewpoints and think deeply about the founding of America.
