I try hard to get to every student in my class every day while we are working on our math assignments. Moving around the classroom with 31 students and all their belongings is tough! It is sometimes like an obstacle course. Having these new horseshoe-shaped tables that are designed for teacher access would help facilitate my ability to easily sit down at their level and not kneeling on the floor. Sometimes kneeling down or hunching over a student or group for more than a few minutes can really slow me down and be painful.
I plan to have all the new tables set up around my room so that the one small opening is facing the front of the room. This set up would allow me to walk around and easily join a group for some small group math, get up and move to the next group, significantly improving the success of all my students.
The one flower-shaped table will sit in the middle and have access to multiple points.
The colors of the table with only add to the enriching environment that I strive to create for my students.
