Reading is a great way for language learners to see the language in an authentic manner. I would love to include Free Voluntary Reading (FVR) in my curriculum. By having a larger variety of books, student can choose something at their level to read during class time. Free Voluntary Reading has been shown to help increase student's vocabulary in the Target Language as well as their confidence in the language. By using novels and books as a way of teaching, students are exposed to the language in a more authentic manner. They see grammatical structures and vocabulary in context. I hope to use reading as a way to teach and encourage students to use their language skills!
