By having a set of tablets for my classroom, I will be able to help my students with their reading and technology skills. Unfortunately my students have limited access at home to newer technology and it would be an advantage for them to have a variety of choices in class. Exposure to an assortment of reading materials that are student selected and appealing can also lead to increased student engagement and love of reading. My students would also benefit from additional time with independent reading in a literacy center. By equipping my classroom with new resources, my students will benefit from increased independent reading time and also become more savvy with technology.
