Flexible seating allows all students to use their senses while they engage in lessons and stay focused. The most important part for a learner is making sure their needs are met before they can fully retain the information that is being taught to them. Flexible seating, such as space balance balls and soft seats, allow all students (including students with special needs) to regulate their needs as they learn. When a students has a choice of where they are seated and feel comfortable in their environment then they are on their ways to success in the classroom. My students are moving around the room throughout the day, whether they are in a small group with me or working with a peer, it is important their surroundings are appropriate. Flexible seating supports a safe, calm environment that will support my students learning.
