The products that I have selected such as Smart Circuit, Domino Maze and Marble Run will help my Gifted students by giving them the opportunity to implement STEM activities while still learning and reinforcing state standards. It will give them the opportunity to be creative and think outside the box. I strongly believe that games will provide many engaging math and science opportunities that will inspire scientific curiosity, build their vocabulary, and have many opportunities to interact with their peers. The trivia games I Should Have Known That as well as the Brain Game will allow them the opportunity to learn new facts in an engaging way as well as continue to nurture, enrich and develop their critical thinking.
The Mastermind board game as well as the Math Art and drawing games will be used as stations for us to choose the math or science topics that are interesting to them, reinforce vocabulary, have discussions, build sound scientific reasoning.
These materials will all be versatile while they can be used during large group, small groups, one on one, and independently at our Math and Science centers. Proof would be a perfect math game to bring all of the math operations together as a standards review. Through STEM game play such as with the Sphero for coding students have access to hands-on materials to help them learn, practice and solidify their understanding of STEM ideas and concepts.
