I have eight radios that were donated by our local law enforcement. These radios cost about $500.00 a piece. Without the lapel mics, my cadet cannot utilize them as efficiently because they are not hand free.
Industry standards require the lapel microphone.
These tools are essential to provide the realistic training this course requires. When I send my cadets to a call during a scenario, they need to be able to talk to our dispatcher and have other tools in their hand. For instance, if they are out with a suspicious person and writing down information, it is not feasible to continue taking the radio out of their pouch and putting it back in.
