Teachers in my district can only afford class sets of scientific calculators, which do the job until algebra 2 and above. Students are learning to graph by hand, rather than using a graphing calculator, which puts them behind when it gets to standardized testing and even higher level math.
Expecting students to do math by hand stops them from really digging into the math concepts and applying them to the real world.
This project will help begin to collect calculators students can use in math before calculus and all math teachers in my school will be welcome to share the set.
