Everlasting learning will start with Tuck Everlasting and the introduction to figurative language. Figurative language encompasses imagery, idioms, personification, hyperboles, similes, metaphors and onomonapia. Sixth grade is the first year the students will be exposed to these concepts and Tuck Everlasting is the best book to use due to the variety of figurative language concepts it provides. The book and the notebook work together so the students have a place to write their notes and complete assignments. We cite evidence of figurative language and incorporate the skills in their own writing. The notebooks are needed to organize their thoughts and ideas.
