Students enter my classroom at all different levels. Some are great readers and some are struggling. Many of the books on this list are graphic novels as I feel like my classroom could use more of them to help engage my readers who struggle more than the average seventh grader. I also added some books that have diverse characters and topics, and books that students seem to be drawn to help increase students' desire to read books! I believe that students should be able to use books as both mirrors to see themselves in as well as windows to see the world. By funding this project, not only are you helping me add mirrors and windows to my classroom library but you are helping me add more diversity in the reading levels that I have in my room as well for my lower-level readers.
