As I begin fresh this new year on a hybrid model (start out as a virtual classroom and gradually transition to brick and mortar style teaching), I want the learning experience top-notch for my students! To do this, I need to acquire technology tools of a document camera and headset with microphone in order to accomplish my teaching objectives and to communicate clearly so that glitches do not interfere with reception of visual or audio elements of my lessons.
A document cam is the lens that transports concepts across to students. Think of it as an old fashioned chalk board. Decades ago, teachers would write and display examples on a board in front of students as the teacher would explain elements of a lesson. The document camera is the same. I can do many great tasks such as fill out a worksheet, graphic organizer, practice handwriting techniques, write out steps for math problems. These are just a few examples that make this document cameras vital in virtual learning. The headset is my voice and ears of virtual learning. A headset with microphone produces a clear sound so my words are not distorted. I will no longer have to lean closer to the computer to verbalize something not heard by students. I can hold a chart and still produce the same crisp audio by having the headset with microphone pick up my words at a steady level. It helps the students’ comments sound clearer by capturing their words without noises that clutter the conversation.
Even when the class comes back to face-to-face learning, these two devices will still be important elements of my daily lessons and instruction. They will further technology usage in my classroom. I appreciate your continued support of my students! Thank you for funding this project!
