In my classroom, my students crave new books. They go through books easily and get bored if books are not challenging. As a result, book clubs with higher leveled books have been used. However, I have run out of books.
Each day students have 30 minutes of uninterrupted reading time. The books that have been requested will be used for students to read independently and together in book clubs daily.
Students will share thoughts, predictions, vocabulary words with each other. Students will also use their creativity to make a final project to summarize their book with the class. Giving students options is extremely important in the classroom. They will decide their pace and reading load each day with each other. Building independence is key in my classroom.
