Since my students learn best through hands-on activities, these materials will be used to fully engage them in our lessons. It will be a place to create, invent, tinker, design, and fabricate something. These materials will help to develop creativity skills, critical thinking and problem solving skills, apply knowledge to practical problems, allow for collaboration with other students, and provide the opportunity for the students to gain confidence in their abilities. Furthermore, it helps build my students' fine motor skills.
These materials will help teach concepts through purposeful play, so the students view it as games without realizing they are doing work and learning. Not only can these materials be used in creating a makerspace, we will also be able to use them for math manipulatives and for reinforcements with students' behavior token reward systems.
