Sadly, resources in rural communities are very limited. My combination classroom of first and second graders will consist of various learning styles, interests, and personal needs. The tablets that I am requesting will provide a collection of materials for reading, researching, recording, and educational entertainment. Some of the features of the tablet include ebooks, text to speech, search engines, educational apps, and a built-in camera. Students will have access to a personal online library that will strengthen their reading and comprehension skills. Text to speech is a great tool for struggling readers and the camera will be used to take pictures of completed assignments for individual student portfolios. The google play app can be downloaded for an online learning platform. In addition, having the capability to provide this type of technology will reduce the need for paper, pencils, and books. The devices will also make social distancing more feasible by reducing unnecessary movement in the classroom. Should the need arise for online learning, it will be quite reassuring to know that the transition will be more manageable for my students. Your generous donations will provide resources for students that would have otherwise not been available. I appreciate your time and consideration in this matter.
