I have wonderful active first grade students ready to learn but needing specific guidance on how to learn. Our class was created six weeks after school started in order to balance out the first grade class sizes. I feel blessed to work with students in a smaller class and even in just three weeks time, I am able to see growth with most of my students. Our class is made up of a majority of very active inquisitive boys who love hands-on activities and doing things to learn. I have fewer active, inquisitive girls and unfortunately, some are a little more intimidated by math and need extra encouragement to understand the concepts being taught. The students come from a variety of circumstances including half-day kindergarten, moving in from other states, home school, and English language classrooms.
