Students in my first grade class get 30 minutes of independent reading time daily. To ensure that they are making the most of their independent reading time, I have created book bins for each of my students. Students get to book shop weekly from the classroom library where they pick 10-12 new book at their reading level to practice their reading skills and build their reading stamina. Once a week, they get togather with a partner and read their books to their partners. This project will help ensuring that they have access to ample high quality books at their level to become confident readers.
