I work in an economically disadvantaged school where resources are scarce. I chose the particular resources on this list because they are the tools my students need every day. For example, dry erase markers are a necessary tool for math classes because they enable students to work collaboratively on white boards to solve problems; however, given the number of students using them each day, they dry out quickly and my Title I school cannot afford to replace them regularly. Manipulatives are also extremely important because they make learning come alive for students by providing them with interactive lessons. Students in Title I schools are often denied the privilege of such hands-on lessons due to budget constraints, and with this list I hope to eliminate some of that inequality by providing my students with tools they need and deserve.
