Kindergarten 2020: This year my students will not have the opportunity to get their hands on the books in our classroom library. I am teaching students whose families opted for 100% remote learning. Based on our school demographics many of them do not own books of their own. The books/materials from this project will open a door for each student to experience the print-rich environment that I strive to create. My young learners truly enjoy our virtual classroom reading time. I know their hearts will be filled with joy and gratitude when they receive books of their own.
These books have been chosen with my students in mind-I have watched their interest for literacy develop during the past few weeks of school. They use the skills they are acquiring as great readers to ask questions and let their imagination fly while engaging in discussion as we read aloud.
Students will be able to enjoy reading at home with their families while the importance of Early Literacy continues to be promoted.
With these new books, my students and their families will be allowed to create lasting memories as they read for enjoyment and learning.
