Reading is such an important part of life! Students should be given ample opportunities to read different materials. Scholastic News always has interesting, newsworthy topics, and inspiring non-fiction stories that students enjoy.
Scholastic is a fantastic resource for teachers because it includes lesson plans, standards, guided reading questions, digital copies, videos, and games for teachers and students. We use Scholastic News and Science Spin for guided reading lessons. It is also an amazing way to integrate science and social studies content into the curriculum.
Students love the text to speech feature. They can listen to the stories to help with their vocabulary and reading fluency. This is also a great way to differentiate lessons for struggling students.
This resource is an engaging tool for all students and works with Google Classroom, and other blended learning opportunities. Students already use Google Classroom so they would be able to access the Scholastic News from home. This is definitely a positive resource for all.
