My classroom is comprised of sensory impaired students. Our students learn best when provided multiple presentations of material which include sensory components.
Introducing students to STEM vocabulary and terms at an early age will set them up for success in life. The sand and water table (sensory table) will offer us the ability to safely introduce STEM concepts using our 5 senses. The feel and find sensory tubs, washable sensory materials complete sets, and mold play sand will allow hands on learning. Students will be introduced to new vocabulary ( i.e. large/small, heavy/light, wet/dry, cold/hot, etc.) that is age appropriate for STEM.
The sensory sand ice cream set, squish squeeze sensory beads, and magic water marbles will be used to introduce numbers and one-to-one correspondence, which is critical in STEM. The pop play sensory dimpl and pompoms will allow students to use their fingers to feel a variety of textures and introduce different materials in their environment.
