More than ever, children need small group instruction to mitigate the significant loss of learning due to the impacts of COVID-19. With most students and their families coming from a low-income demographic and testing scores well below the state average, they are disadvantaged before even attending school.
Materials requested will give students basic access to fundamental instruction for small groups; books, student organization tools, and a whiteboard for teacher instruction. The book chosen will be used to engage students through culturally relevant content. The clipboards will increase student engagement while also supporting organizational skills and responsibility. Finally, the whiteboard will allow the students to visually participate in organized small group mini-lessons focusing on not yet mastered skills.
